A few pics from Toby’s walk

We took Toby for a walk near the water but we had to give it up because the nats were so bad. I had a chance to take a few photos during the short time we were there though so it was well worth it, plus Toby had a blast :)

Bobby and Katie’s Wedding!

My friends Bobby and Katie from school just got married. Just a few years ago we were all just meeting for the first time, hanging out, and working for the student newspaper together, now they’re happily hitched. Usually I’m the photo guy at weddings but since I was in the wedding party, and they know how I am with a camera (I photograph everything) Katie forbid me from using my Canon 5D during the wedding…So I gave it to my very talented girlfriend Hollie and she took pictures with it instead of me.

Throughout the day, when I could, I was snapping away with my Android camera phone :P …she never told me I couldn’t use that so here are some photos.

I took a few shots anyway though, during the limo ride and at the official photo taking part with the hired photographer…I didn’t have my Canon so I had to use the next best thing…my Android camera phone.

That’s it folks.

Crescent Park

My girlfriend and her family took a ride over to the Crescent Park Carousel for some chowder and a bit of a history lesson about the local area. They showed me around and on the way out I took some photos of this car (her brother’s request) and I thought I’d share them. I love these old car shows and taking pictures lets me remember some of the cool cars I saw :)

Michigan last summer

I went to Michigan last summer with my friends family and stayed with them for a week on Lake Huron. I tried to take as many pictures as possible so here are a few of them :)

Image

Let me know what you think of this stuff and feel free to share it with friends and repost it :) Just don’t print it out and make tons of money on it without letting me know first! I’d be jealous and I’d have to ask you how you managed to sell my work :P

I can’t wait to go back there this summer…I could skip the 19 hour ride quite happily though :P

Thanks for stopping by <3

Also, you can view the entire Michigan album HERE.

Rhode Island College at night

These shots are just a quick preview of some much more dynamic images to come. I was dashing across campus to catch a bus, just as the sun was setting. The sky was a perfect red that I couldn’t miss but I missed most of it anyway.

I was sort of shooting and moving at the same time so the framing isn’t perfect but I’m going to go back when the weather is warmer and really take some time to do it properly :)

I have my heart set on getting new equipment this summer, I’m think about a Canon 85 mm, 1.8, a tripod, and maybe a Canon 50 mm, 1.4 and camera backpack…and a car for exploring cool places – I’ve been grounded for a year now.

These pics aren’t exactly High Dynamic Range or anything but maybe I’ll start to play with that, since it seems to be the thing to do with night shots nowadays :P regular pics just don’t do it for people anymore.

Providence with friends

This afternoon my friend Casey invited me to go walking with her downtown because it was such a nice day out. I took my camera and snapped some pics along the way – sort of random and unplanned so they’re all over the place :)

Image

We stopped by Matt's place and woke him up. He and Lauren came with us.

We stopped at Matt’s place and picked him and Lauren up, so we stopped for coffee to sip on the way.

Image

The building above is filled with really nice apartments. I had a chance to check it out once on a photos shoot. A passerby who lived in the building invited us up so we could shoot some shots from a lounge balcony.

Image

Casey and Lauren walking into part of Brown’s campus. The trees are blooming there so it’s very nice, we stopped a few times to just sit and chat – it’s awesome sometimes having nowhere to be.

Image

We made a stop by Brown’s greenhouse, which is open to the public until 3 p.m. daily. It was the first time I’ve been there and they have some cool plants. One plant would close it’s leaves when you touched it.

Image

We stopped at a nice grassy spot and chilled out for awhile and talked…I’m not sure what we were talking about here but I like their expressions.

Image

We walked for awhile longer and came back towards the city and sat in another spot for awhile. While we were sitting a few boys came by and were skating. We had to leave though because it looked like it was going to rain and I hadn’t brought my camera bag.

Image

Snapped a quick pic of the city as we were making our way back towards Matt’s place.

Aaaand I’m Back!

This is my first post to my blog in two years! I can’t explain why I ever stopped because I don’t know why. I’ll start posting weekly again and see if I can’t get the creative juices flowing once again. To start here are some photos I took the other day.Image

I shot this while walking across the Rhode Island College Campus, I can’t tell you what it is though because it’s an abstract and I think that’s breaking some sort of rule. If you know the campus though you might be able to figure out what it is.

Image

My girlfriend and I visited the Rodger Williams Zoo as soon as the weather was tolerable and I snapped a shot of this snow leopard. A sign behind me read “the snow leopard can jump to here.” I was a solid 30 ft away.

Image

This was a shot I took during a photoshoot for a friend who is trying to start her own small line of clothing. She made the clothing herself and had two of her friends model it for her. I shot this at night in Breton Point, Newport, Rhode Island with my Canon 5D. I didn’t have proper equipment so I was using an Olympus manuel focus 50 mm lens and my Android phone’s flashlight app for my key-light.

ImageMy best friend’s family invited me to their summer place in Michigan. Pictured is Lake Huron during sunrise. I never could get up in time though for the first part of it, which I was told is magnificent by my friend’s brother, who is usually awake at that hour doing yoga on the beach. Maybe I’ll get to see it this year though…hmmm.

Image

This is a photo of  New Hampshire’s Mount Monadnock, during sunset. I shot it in Peterborough.

Image

This is a crop from a photo I took while walking across campus. I got this effect by simultaneously spinning the camera and zooming in. It created the vortex look.

Image

This is a shot I took while I was in Mexico last summer doing some work with an orphanage there. I’ve had the privilege of going for the past six years to see the kids and help out. It’s a remarkable place because of the people there! I encourage people to get out of the States for a week or two a year and see what’s happening elsewhere in the world.

Thanks for visiting my page again and please let me know if you’re interested in any of the work. Even if you just think it’s pretty or cool :) it makes me feel like what I’m doing matters a little. Peace!

Esther and Dave’s shoot continued…

Here are even more! These are another batch from our shoot earlier this month. I have one more batch coming up before it’s completed. Then most likely another shoot.

More pics from the shoot. More to come.

Let us know what you think. Doing these shoots is a lot of fun- but it really does take a lot of effort on everyone’s part, and getting feedback and knowing what our readers think is what make us want to work so hard to do it.

Thanks for checking this out!
